English

IEP offers a variety of English language programs for both youth and adults.

Our programs include the following: Intensive English, Academic Year, Conversation and American Culture, English for International Business, Improving Oral Fluency and University Preparation Program.

Students in the advanced levels of many of these programs may take a UC Riverside degree credit class or an Extension class in any field such as business, computers, agriculture and arts, at no additional cost.

The institutional TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam is offered twice each quarter, and an extra TOEFL preparation class is available every quarter.

Programs are offered on a year-round basis, so you may choose to begin your studies when it is most convenient for you. The duration varies from two weeks to one year in our regularly scheduled programs. Special programs may be arranged for any length of time for groups with particular interests or time restraints.

Our IEP instructors are experienced, friendly and dedicated professionals. They have extensive experience in teaching international students and many of them have lived abroad. They understand different cultures and create an atmosphere in which you learn quickly and comfortably.

Our academic facilities include modern and comfortable classrooms, language and computer laboratories equipped with the latest technology software.

Professional

Professional training opportunities are offered in a variety of formats, from short-term seminars and training institutes to longer-term certificate programs.

Programs are available in fields such as Business and Management, Information Technology, Graphic Design, Geographic Information Systems, TESOL, Education, Environmental Management and many others. A University of California, Riverside, Extension certificate is awarded upon successful completion of a program.

Among our intensive certificate programs is Global Business Management (GBM), which offers a comprehensive exploration of the issues of management in a global business environment. The intensive course is structured into five two-week modules concentrating on the latest management practices and strategies in focused daytime sessions involving lecture and case discussion. Participants have the opportunity to network with professionals from the USA and several other countries.

In addition to the intensive certificate programs, UC Riverside Extension academic departments offer long-term certificate programs in a wide variety of fields.

Through our Design-Your-Own Program, students may choose any combination of Intensive English classes, UCR Extension classes and UCR undergraduate and graduate classes

Upon successful completion of a professional training program, you may be able to work for an American company and apply the knowledge that you acquired. Work opportunities include 10-week internships in Riverside or New York City or 12 months of practical training. Eligibility for each option varies according to the program taken.
