Certificate and Diploma Programs

International Education Programs offers a range of certificate and diploma programs that allow students to earn a highly valued University of California certificate or diploma without having to meet the strict admission requirements for undergraduate and graduate study.

The certificate and diploma programs are designed for advanced speakers of English who wish to study a specialized area to enhance their skills and expand their educational or professional experience. Diploma programs normally require a Bachelors degree or significant work experience.

Certificate and Diploma Programs require an advanced level of English (see individual program description for language requirements). Students who can not show official scores will be tested upon arrival. Students who do not meet the English language requirement will be referred to the University of California, Riverside English language program. Postgraduate programs normally require a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and management experience).

Academic-Year Certificate Programs (AYCP) »

The Academic-Year Certificate Programs are designed for high school graduates and business professionals. They include nine months of full-time study in a late afternoon and evening format in many different professional areas, leading to a University of California, Riverside Extension certificate. Students who successfully complete an Academic-Year Certificate Program are eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Postgraduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) and Diplomas in Management (PGDM), Hospitality(PGDHM), Biotechnology(PGDBM), and Engineering(PGDEM) »

The Postgraduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) and Diplomas in Management (PGDM) and Hospitality (PGDHM) offer comprehensive postgraduate-level study that prepare students to work anywhere in the world and include a required internship as part of the program as well as the opportunity for one year of optional practical training in the United States.

TESOL Advanced Certificate Program »

The Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Advanced Certificate Program is a comprehensive teacher development program that allows current teachers or prospective teachers planning to teach abroad to understand the most up-to-date North American teaching trends and methods and earn an internationally recognized teaching certificate.

TESOL Certificate »

The six-month TESOL certificate is designed for current English teachers abroad who are looking to add the skills and knowledge to successfully teach English anywhere in the world.
